Autism Links & Events for Derby and surrounding areas:

SPACE is a fortnightly club for children on the spectrum as well as their siblings and friends.  So children as well as their siblings can come along and also invite their friends to come too.

It is held at (about 30-45 mins drive from Derby).
They put up a big inflatable bouncy castle and have a full size trampoline out.  All gym equipment, ropes etc are there for children to get active.

It is held on the first and third Saturday in the month, but I always ring to make sure it is on (01332 810528).  It is from 10.00am - 12.00 Noon.  During the second hour the children tend to do winding down activities like Lego or drawing/colouring.

There are supervisors to keep an eye on the children but some parents do choose to stay with their children.  The rest of the parents have the use of another room in the college where we have a drink/biscuits/chat etc.

Everyone is friendly and families come from Derby/Leicester/Notts.  There is a big range of abilities from mildly affected to severely autistic.  There is also a big age range from 5+ to around 16.  Every week is different depending on which children are there.  Sometimes it is relatively quiet, sometimes a bit boistrous!  But we all manage to rub along together.
